The grand avenues and stately buildings of New Delhi are rich with history and culture. Then explore the famous “Old Delhi,” a walled city founded in 1638 and then drive by (and get a photo op) of the historic Red Fort, the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for nearly 200 years, until 1857. After that, take a rickshaw ride to the Chandni Chowk or Moonlight Square, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi built in the 17th century by the Mughal Emperor of India Shah Jahan. And just before noon, you will visit the largest Muslim Mosque in India, Jama Masjid. In the afternoon, visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of the most prominent Sikh houses of worship built in 1783 and known for its association with the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, as well as the pool inside its complex, known as the “Sarovar.” Here you will be able to help out in the making of an unleavened flatbread from the Indian Subcontinent named Chapatti or Roti. This bread is made of whole wheat flour known as Atta, salt and water, and cooked on a tava (flat skillet). You will also help with the stirring of vast pots of dal (lentil curry). A truly humbling experience. (B / SL / D)

Built by Raja Jai Singh in the 18th century, it is surrounded by hills topped with rugged fortresses and dotted with fairy tale palaces. Upon arrival at Shahpura Haveli, indulge in a feast fit for kings at the dining arcade, where the fusion of flavors and the richness of tradition intertwine seamlessly.

After lunch, visit the Wood Block Printing Textile Co-operative Emporium where you will learn about the process of printing patterns on textiles, usually of linen, cotton or silk, by means of incised wooden blocks. It is the earliest, simplest and slowest of all methods of textile printing with vegetable dyes.

Later in the afternoon, go for a walking tour of the old city market, famous for its lac bangles, a type of bracelet made from natural resin that is known for its vibrant colors and intricate designs. They are a symbol of prosperity and happiness in Indian culture and are worn by women of all ages. Today, depart Jaipur and start your journey north to the city of Agra, but just before arriving at your destination, stop at a small city with red sandstone buildings and Persian principles founded by a 16th century Mughal emperor called Fatehpur Sikri (or Ghost City). This place was the capital of the Mughal Empire between 1570 and 1586. Emperor Akbar built the city to celebrate the birth of an heir, but the imperial complex was abandoned in 1585, shortly after its completion, due to the exhaustion of the small, spring-fed lake that supplied the city with water, and its proximity with the Rajputana, with which the Mughal Empire was often at war.
